About This PMP Practice Exam
This full-length PMP exam simulator replicates the exact format of the real PMP certification exam. You'll face 180 multiple-choice questions across all three domains, with a 230-minute timer — identical to what you'll experience at a Pearson VUE test center or through the online proctored exam.
Exam Structure & Scoring
The PMP exam is divided into three domains, each weighted differently:
- People (42%) — 14 tasks focused on team leadership, conflict management, mentoring, stakeholder engagement, and emotional intelligence
- Process (50%) — 17 tasks covering the technical side of project management: scope, schedule, budget, risk, quality, procurement, and governance
- Business Environment (8%) — 4 tasks on compliance, benefits delivery, external factors, and organizational change
PMI uses psychometric scoring rather than a fixed passing percentage. Your goal is to score "Target" or "Above Target" across all three domains. Most successful candidates score 65-75%+ on practice exams.
Tips for Taking This Practice Exam
- Simulate real conditions: Take the full 230 minutes in one sitting with only two 10-minute breaks — no pausing, no phone checks.
- Read every answer choice: PMP questions often have multiple "correct" answers — your job is to pick the best one based on the PMI mindset.
- Flag, don't stall: If a question takes more than 90 seconds, flag it and move on. Return to flagged questions at the end.
- Review your results by domain: After completing, focus your study on the domain where you scored lowest.
- Take multiple practice exams: Research shows candidates who complete 3+ full-length simulations improve their scores by 10-15%.
Question Types You'll Encounter
The PMP exam uses several question formats beyond standard multiple choice:
- Multiple choice — Standard four-option questions (the majority)
- Multiple response — Select two or three correct answers from a list
- Drag-and-drop — Match items to categories or sequence process steps
- Hotspot — Click the correct area on a diagram or chart
- Fill-in-the-blank — Type the correct term or value
Our simulator focuses on multiple choice and multiple response — these represent ~85% of the real exam and are the most effective format for building exam-taking skills.
